The Team

Stefan Otto

I’m blessed to say that I was born and raised in the beautiful coastal town of Hermanus. My love affair with the hospitality industry started at Warwick’s Chef School, where I trained to be a chef. During my 25 years in the hospitality industry, I have been very fortunate to work in some of the finest restaurants and hotels throughout France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Botswana and South Africa. After many years in the kitchen, I decided to diversify my career and took a position in Front-of-House. After many years abroad I am thrilled to be back in my hometown, Hermanus. Nikki and I are very much looking forward to welcoming you at Penguino. Arriving as guests, leaving as friends!

Nikki Otto

I grew up Pretoria, South Africa and I am a qualified dental nurse for the past 21 years. Stefan and I decided to come back home to start our new adventure, opening Penguino Guesthouse here in the heart of Hermanus. This has always been our dream! We love entertaining and having people around. Our friends have always said: "You guys must open a guesthouse!". Well, here we are, doing what we do best! We are looking forward to meeting new people, and hope that everyone will have a memorable stay.

Olivia Otto

I am the newest addition to the Penguino team. I joined the team in November 2019. Currently I am not too involved with operations, as I am very busy playing with my toys, learning to speak, and trying my hand at some to painting and drawing. I am however super happy to get involved in any photo opportunity when it arises!

Pippa and Harvey

We are the resident Wire Fox Terriers and the local lifeguards at Penguino! We love swimming, breathing the Champagne air, and soaking up the African sun. We are totally available for cuddling and joining you by the pool for some sunbathing.

Patricia Stevens

I have worked in guesthouses and homes for 25years. I have been working with Stefan and Nikki for the past 10 years and I am an integral part of the Penguino family! As we are a small family-run business and I am really proud to be part of the Penguino team, ensuring that everything is in tip-top shape for your stay. I look forward to welcoming you at Penguino!

Opening Hours

Mon – Sat : 2pm – 6pm
Sundays: 12pm-1pm or between 4.30pm – 6pm
(closed between 1pm – 4.30pm)

Early or Late check-ins can be arranged!
