Well, all this can be arranged at Penguino Guesthouse, and as a trained chef you can only expect the best from Stefan’s kitchen. He caters for special lunches, afternoon teas, dinners, picnics, wood-oven pizzas and of course the always popular braai (BBQ).

Wine

We make our own family wines called “Dreunkrans” right here at Penguino! We derived the name from the cliff that is located in-front of the guesthouse.

Hermanus is blessed to have the Hemel-en-Aarde (Heaven and Earth) wine region right on its doorstep. The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley unites three wine wards, and boasts with a reputation for exceptional quality, small production and cool-climate wines. The three wards: Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge are well known for their Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. Innovative blends and mineral Sauvignon Blancs complement the range and leaves no palate unsatisfied. Arts & Crafts

Friday Art Walk
Join for the Our famous ART walk first Friday of every month
https://www.facebook.com/hermanusfirstfridaysartwalk/

Hermanus has always attracted a large number of artistically talented people. You will find numerous painters, sculptors, poets, ceramicists, jewellery designers, glass designers, quilters and photographers in and around Hermanus.

The local market, trading on Saturdays (and Sundays during peak season), will give you the opportunity to view a few of the local artists.

There are also excellent African curio-type works brought in from further north, but the quilts, ceramics, precious stone jewellery and most fabric paintings are all produced by local artists.

Surrounding Areas
Gansbaai:
Gansbaai (Goose Bay) has grown from a quiet small fishing village into a tourist mecca, where Great White Shark Cage Diving operates from the Kleinbaai Harbour.

A trip to the Overberg is not complete without a visit to this bustling village which boasts a commercial abalone farming enterprise at Danger Point. Beautiful stretches of beaches and outstanding fishing spots abound in this neck of the woods. There are hiking trails in Fynbos reserves, the famous cliffs at De Kelders and whale watching land or sea based.

Enjoy delicious fresh seafood at one of the local eateries from the day’s local catch.

Stanford:
This beautiful town was originally founded on the farm Klein River and was named after the original owner Captain Robert Stanford.

Where Stanford was once known as a typical weekend getaway destination, it is fast becoming home to many. Its tranquility and harmony with nature, the diverse birdlife and magnificent fynbos, which abounds in the Stanford area, attracts those seeking the fresh country air and a more relaxed lifestyle.
Gentle hikes, interesting historical architecture and a multitude of local arts and crafts will keep you busy for hours on end.

A visit to the Birkenhead Brewery is an absolute must. Take a brewery tour and sit down to a delicious lunch at the brewery’s restaurant in the most magnificent setting.
